A primary goal for Rural Economic Assistance League, Inc. (REAL) is to be “the provider of choice” for the community. Great pride goes into providing safe, caring, and quality community-centered services to the elderly, individuals with disabilities, and the general public by assisting them and their families maintain an independent and fulfilling life. Services available include: Home Health Care, Primary Home Care, Community Based Alternatives, Medically Dependent Children Program, Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, Housing, and Daily Activity & Health Services. The following highlights information on the transportation services available.

Services Offered: Demand Responsive Service - wheelchair accessible transportation that has flexible routing and scheduling for curb-to-curb or point-to-point transportation; provided at the user's demand; the same as paratransit.

• Eligibility: Services available to the general public, elderly, and disabled. Transportation provided to day care centers, public/private schools, paying bills, shopping, medical, appointments, work, and job interviews.

• Scheduling Service: Schedule a trip by calling one (1) day in advance; some same day trips may be available – call REAL Transportation at 361-668-3158 or 1-800-634-8082 for more information.

• Service Hours: Monday - Friday  8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• Cost of Service:

  • Service within Alice city limits: $1.00 one-way.

  • Service Alice to surrounding areas are available at a cost ranging from $5.00 to $27.00 one-way.
